In the Pacific, while there are no formal barriers to equal political participation, historical and ongoing social, cultural, and economic challenges continue to hinder gender parity in legislatures and decision-making bodies. Recognising this, initiatives like the Pacific Plan and the Revised Pacific Platform for Action advocate for affirmative measures to enhance women’s representation. Supported by UNDP, this pilot website has been launched as a knowledge-sharing portal to consolidate information, news, and research on efforts to promote women in politics across the region. Over time, the platform aims to expand its support by offering campaign training and fundraising resources for women candidates, inspired by successful models like EMILY’s List.
